iPhone alarm not ringing? Causes and fixes
These steps follow Apple’s official support, most common first.
1. Raise Ringer and Alerts
Settings → Sounds & Haptics, drag “Ringer and Alerts” up. The alarm follows this level, not media volume.
2. Pick an alarm sound
Clock → Alarm → Edit, tap the alarm → Sound, and make sure it isn’t “None”.
3. Turn off Attention Aware features
On Face ID iPhones: Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Attention Aware Features. When on, the phone lowers alert volume while you look at it.
4. Disconnect headphones
If headphones are connected, the alarm may play through them.
5. Check the Sleep alarm in Health
The Sleep schedule alarm is set in Health (or at the top of the alarm list) and has its own sound.
6. Update and restart
Settings → General → Software Update, then restart the phone.
